Smoked Cherry Bourbon Ham has a sweet glaze made with cherries and bourbon.  Ham smoked for extra flavor and paired with a glaze like this is hard to beat.

Ingredients

  • 5-7 pound spiral sliced ham
  • 6 oz jar Maraschino cherries (remove stems or buy without)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup of bourbon
  • 3 Tbsps honey
  • 3 Tbsps Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 Tbsps dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Set your smoker to 250° F and put the ham directly on the grates for 1 hour
  2. Put the cherries (with juice) and all other ingredients into a saucepan.  Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Note: Watch carefully as it comes to a boil.  If it starts to bubble over just remove from heat for a moment.

  1. Mash the cherries (we like to use a potato masher)
  2. Carefully transfer the ham to a casserole dish or foil pan.
  3. Pour some of all of the glaze over the ham.  You may set some of the mixture back to drizzle on the top.
  4. Place it back on the smoker for 1-1.5 more hours or until internal temperature is 140°F.

Note: If glaze seems to be sticking to the bottom of the pan, add a small amount of water.
