Smoked Mulled Wine

Be it relaxation or in-laws, wine just seems to pair well with the holidays.  So pour up some of this unique mulled wine for the crew this Christmas. We’ve added whiskey, white rum, and a variety of spices to red wine to create this burst of Christmasy deliciousness that will take the “bah” right out of anyone’s “humbug.”


  • 2 Bottle red wine

  • 1/2 Cup whiskey

  • 1/2 Cup white rum

  • 1/2 Cup honey

  • 1 Stick cinnamon

  • 2  pods star anise

  • 4  whole cloves

  • 1  (3 in) orange peel


  1. When ready to cook, set grill temperature to 180℉ and preheat with the lid closed for 15 minutes.
  2. In a shallow baking dish, combine wine, whiskey, rum, honey, cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, and orange peel. Stir well until combined.
  3. Place the dish directly on the grill grate and smoke for one hour until the mixture is warm.
  4. Remove from grill and ladle into mugs leaving the mulling spices behind. Garnish with fresh cinnamon sticks, anise, orange zest, or a combination.
  5. Enjoy!
